What is the difference between a LUKAS cutter, spreader and combi tool?
A cutter severs structure — posts, roof rails, pedals — with forces from 760 kN on the S 378 E4 to 1,150 kN on the S 799 E4. A spreader forces structure apart and pulls, reaching 600 mm tip-to-tip on the SP 333 E4 and 1,018 mm on the long-reach SP 778 E4. A combi tool does both in one body and is the usual choice for a first-response vehicle with limited stowage, at 15.1–24.2 kg.
Which LUKAS cutter is the most powerful?
The S 799 E4, at 1,150 kN maximum cutting force with a 255 mm blade opening, weighing 26.3 kg without hose. The S 789 E4 is close behind at 1,101 kN and 22.8 kg, which most teams find the better balance of force and weight.
Are LUKAS rescue tools made in Germany?
Yes. LUKAS Hydraulik GmbH designs and manufactures in Erlangen, Germany, and has done since 1948. Every tool we supply is genuine German-built LUKAS equipment with full manufacturer warranty and documentation — we are an authorised distributor, not a reseller of parallel imports.
What does E4 mean on a LUKAS tool?
E4 is the fourth generation of LUKAS battery-powered rescue tools. The tool carries its own battery and pump, so there is no hose, no power unit and no set-up time. E4 also brings Captium™ IoT usage logging, 1,000 V electric-vehicle insulation and IP 58 protection.
Can LUKAS E4 tools be used on electric and hybrid vehicles?
Yes. Every E4 tool is insulated to 1,000 V DC/AC, which covers the traction-battery voltages found in current electric and hybrid vehicles. The tools are also cordless, so there is no trailing hose across a scene that may still be energised.
How much does a LUKAS rescue tool cost, and what is the lead time?
